Upgrading TrafficMonitor is simple because it is essentially aFree installation of green software(Simply unzip and run), so the upgrade process is different from ordinary software, as there is no "online upgrade" function.
You can safely update from a low version to a high version by following these steps:
Find the TrafficMonitor folder where you are currently running (usually the directory you extracted yourself).
Copy the entire folderGo elsewhere as a backup, especially:
config.ini
(Configuration file, save your interface layout, font, color and other settings)
If there isskins
Folder (skin resources), it is also recommended to backup.
Go to the official GitHub release page or Gitee image to download the version corresponding to your system:
Standard EditionFull functionality, but requires administrator privileges to display hardware information such as temperature.
Lite versionLightweight, does not require administrator privileges, but has fewer features.
x64 / x86Windows 64 bit systems use x64, while 32-bit systems use x86.
There are two ways:
Method 1: Directly overwrite upgrade (keep settings)
Close the currently running TrafficMonitor (right-click on the tray icon → Exit).
After decompressing the new version of the compressed file, overwrite the files inside into the folder of the old version.
rerunTrafficMonitor.exe
The original configuration and skin will be retained (becauseconfig.ini
Not deleted.
Method 2: Import configuration after decompression
Create a new folder and extract the new compressed file into it.
Backup the old versionconfig.ini
andskins
Copy the folder to the new version directory.
Double click to runTrafficMonitor.exe
You can load the old settings.
If the interface displays abnormal after upgrading, you can try deleting itconfig.ini
Let the software regenerate the configuration (which will restore the default style).
Some new version features or skin formats may not be fully compatible with the old version, and manual adjustment of settings is required after upgrading.
suggestionDo not mix files of different architecture versions(For example, overwriting x86 files to an x64 directory) can easily lead to runtime errors.
